the effectiveness of schema therapy in the treatment of women (females) with social anxiety disorder

abstract objectives: this study aimed to determine the effectiveness of schema therapy in the treatment of social anxiety disorder.method: the research method was a single-case experimental design with multiple baselines. five patients were selected by purposive sampling method. they were treated in 20 individual sessions according to young's schema therapy model. the data were collected by test of socialphobia inventory (spin), liebowitz social anxiety scale(lsas), young schema questionnaire (ysq: long form), brief fear of negative evaluation scale(bfne), general self-efficacy scale(gse-10) and short from health survey(sf-36). for analyzing the data, the improve diagnostic method and clinical significance were used. results: .the results showed the young's schema therapy model reduced significantly the activity of the early maladaptive schemas in all areas of schemas and consequently decreased the main targets of the treatment (fear and avoidance) statistically and clinically. conclusion: schema therapy in the treatment of social anxiety disorder in women is necessary for efficiency and effectiveness.
